Notifications & permissions

CarMaster keeps you informed about your bookings, tows, and messages, and asks for a few device permissions to do its job.

Notifications

A bell in the menu shows your latest notifications and an unread count. Tap View all to open the full Notifications page.

You'll get notifications for:

  • Booking updates - when the shop confirms, rejects, starts, advances the work stage, or finishes.
  • Towing updates - each time your tow request changes stage.
  • New messages - when the shop or driver replies.

Each notification has a title, a short message, and a time. Tap one to jump straight to the related booking, tow, or conversation. You can mark one as read or mark all as read.

Choosing what notifies you

Open your Profile page to find notification preferences. You can mute notifications by type (bookings, towing, chat, reminders).

TIP

Muting only stops push notifications. Muted items still appear in your in-app inbox, so you never lose anything - you just won't get a phone alert for them.

SMS and email

Besides the in-app notifications, a booking uses each channel differently:

  • Push - you get an in-app notification for every booking update (time proposal, confirmation, work started, finished, and so on).
  • Email - you get an email only once the booking is confirmed by both parties, that is, after the shop proposes a time and you approve it. Email is sent only if you have an address on your profile.
  • SMS - you get a single SMS, about two hours before the appointment. It reminds you that you're booked at that time, with which vehicle and at which location, and includes a link to the location in the app. SMS is sent only if you have a phone number on your profile.

You also receive SMS and email for your vehicle reminders (ITP, RCA, road vignette, or custom deadlines). For each deadline you get one message 30 days, 7 days, and 1 day before, plus one once the deadline has passed - so up to four messages per document. Each message includes a link to the shop's location page, where you can book the work. The same conditions apply: SMS only if you have a phone number on your profile, email only if you have an address.

Permissions

Open the Permissions page (from the menu, or from a banner the app shows when something is needed). Each permission has a status and a button to grant it:

  • Location (GPS) - needed for towing and for sorting locations "nearest first".
  • Notifications - needed for push alerts about your bookings, tows, and messages.
  • Camera - needed to send photos in chat.

If you previously denied a permission, the page links you to your device settings to turn it back on.

WARNING

Without location permission, you can still request a tow, but you'll have to place the pickup pin on the map by hand, and locations won't be sorted by distance.
